Ebike Battery: Maintain and Use

Posted by Eahora E-Bike on

Battery Maintenance

  1. If you won’t use the battery for several days, charge it to about 75%. At this level, the battery degrades less than at higher charges.
  2. Check the battery's charge monthly and recharge it to 75% as needed.
  3. Store the battery in a dry, indoor space away from heat, flames, and direct sunlight.

Charging

  1. The battery can be charged while attached or detached from the e-bike. (Unlock or lock the battery using the key on the battery slide.)
  2. Always use the original charger for your battery.
  3. Charge indoors in dry spaces, avoiding extreme heat or cold.
  4. Keep the charging port clean and free from debris, wiping it down when necessary.
  5. When charging, connect the charger to the battery first, then plug it into a power source.
  6. The charger light will turn red while charging and green when finished.
  7. Avoid leaving the charger plugged in after the battery is fully charged.
  8. Do not charge a damaged, overheated, leaking, smelly, or discolored battery.
  9. Charging typically takes 4-6 hours but may increase with age and usage.

Safety

  1. Never submerge the battery in liquid.
  2. Avoid touching the charging port with metal to prevent short circuits.
  3. Turn off the battery when not in use and before removing it from the e-bike.
  4. Only handle the charger by the plug, not the cable.
  5. If charging problems occur, stop immediately and contact the manufacturer.

Essential Tips

  • Charge the battery monthly; otherwise, it risks developing negative pressure, which makes it unusable.
  • Keep the charging port clean and dry, and always use the original charger.
  • Charge promptly when the battery drops below 40%, but avoid charging for more than 4-6 hours.
  • Protect the battery from water, overheating, direct sun, and heavy impacts.

Proper battery care is vital for ensuring your e-bike performs at its best and avoids costly repairs. By charging monthly, storing correctly, and following safety guidelines, you can greatly extend your battery’s lifespan while staying safe. Keep your battery in top shape, and you’ll enjoy trouble-free rides and peace of mind for years to come! Ride smart and take care!
